Modern Languages

We believe that the learning of a modern foreign language provides a valuable, educational, social and cultural experience for our children. It helps develop children’s cultural awareness and understanding of the world around them. It extends their knowledge of how language works and helps them to develop communication skills.

For some years now, the children of Woodlea have been taught French from Year 3 to Year 6. The twelve aims, as set out in the Key Stage 2 National Curriculum for Languages, are revisited throughout the four-year scheme across engaging units of work that are based on familiar themes.
