Latest Ofsted Report
We were inspected on the 29th and 30th April 2025.
The inspectors found Woodlea to be a welcoming and nurturing environment, where pupils feel safe, well cared for, and supported. They praised the warm and trusting relationships between staff and pupils and were impressed by our school’s strong ethos of “Ready for Life.”
Here are just some of the key highlights from the report:
- Positive Behaviour and Attitudes: Pupils behave positively, work hard and achieve well. They are attentive in lessons, demonstrate respect for one another, and are supported by staff who consistently uphold high expectations.
- Strong Curriculum and Teaching: Inspectors recognised the school’s careful curriculum design, and our clear focus on building pupils’ knowledge and skills over time. They praised the strong phonics and reading provision, as well as pupils’ achievements in reading, writing, and mathematics.
- Personal Development: From ‘WOW Woodlea’ and ‘Woodlea’s Got Talent’ to the Eco Council, Playground Angels, and Curiosity Challenges, the report highlights the many rich opportunities our pupils have to develop leadership, creativity, and life skills.
- Inclusion and Support for All: The school’s inclusive approach ensures that every child can access a broad and ambitious curriculum. Staff are commended for identifying and supporting pupils with additional needs, ensuring that no child is left behind.
- Safeguarding and Well-being: Safeguarding was judged to be effective, and inspectors noted that pupils feel confident to ask for help. They also highlighted the school’s positive culture, strong collaboration between staff and leaders, and the high levels of morale among staff.
For me personally, as the Headteacher, the recognition in the report that “The school makes decisions with pupils’ best interests at heart…...” is important as we do this job for the children.
