The Reading Festival which took place on Thursday, was a resounding success because of Mr Cole’s initial ideas, the support of a parent’s expertise and contacts and a staff team which threw themselves into the event by developing a set of activities which all of the children thoroughly enjoyed. Poetry, art, music, imagination, and adventure activities all designed to celebrate the year of reading and inspire the pupils. Eric Huang, the author of Guardians of the New Moon, joined the event and was excellent at inspiring all the children to imagine their own magical worlds. To finish the day, it was wonderful to see so many parents able to join their children to read with them in the sunshine. We know there was a bit of a queue for parents to get in, and if we did an event like this again, we would look at how this part could be improved, but hopefully parents enjoyed the time.
