Governance
The Local Governing Committee (LGC) is made up of representatives from parents, staff (teaching and non-teaching), and the local community. The Local Governing Committee meets once per school half-term (6 times per year). Regulations define the three key roles of the Governing Body as:
- Setting the strategic direction
- Securing accountability
- Monitoring, evaluating, supporting and challenging
This means that the Local Governing Body fulfils the role of a ‘critical friend’, with the overriding aim of improving the quality of education and standards of achievement at Woodlea Primary School. The Local Governing Body are involved with development planning, policy making, monitoring and evaluating performance, setting realistic but challenging targets for pupil performance and ensuring accountability.
